Apartment Review
military not welcomed

my husband and I moved here from california, where our last apartments had caught on fire, looking for a quiet military friendly apartment complex. I had found this place online while I was in CA and everyone I spoke to seemed wonderful, and they are until you have to move out. We signed the lease, which we made sure had a military clause and thought we had found heaven. Well we were wrong. These places were built in the 80's and nothing has been done since. The units creek and moan when you walk in them, the walls detach from the ceilings and cracks start appearing all over the walls. There was said to be new tile on the floor in the kitchen. I found out that there were only a couple pieces of new tile and it was over the old tile. THe oven was horrible, the pant on the wall was thousands of coast thick and they had even painted over the dust on the vents. When they went to paint, for that matter, they painted over everything, floors, lights, sinks, etc... The vent in the washroom leaked all the time, they fixed the roof but that didn't help. The people living downstairs from us played there music so loud that when you went to knock on their door to ask them to be quiet, they couldn't hear you. Paint was falling down everywhere, the ventelationg system was awful. You lost power about 6 out of the 7 days of the week. THe raised our rates because there was a fire in the building across the way and everyone basically moved out, so I guess they had to compensate for lost rent. The maintainance staff was wonderful though, which was the only good part about the place. They tried their best to keep up with the demands of these falling down apartments buildings. My husband suddenly got orders to be transferred out of the country and we were given mandatory leave which we were going to take immediately. I informed the leasing office of this as soon as I found out. I thought because of the clause in the lease we were going to be all set. WRONG!!! They made us pay until our lease was up because he didn't start his new job right away. So we had to pay a whole months rent for not even living there while we were out of the country. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone who is military, I do NOT recommend this place to anyone for that matter. |
