Apartment Review for Harbour Gates Apartments - Annapolis, MD

I have had many problems with the management at Harbour gates. Back last year somebody skimmed money out of my wifes account which is also my account and this happened the same time my rent check was in the process of clearing the bank. I did not know which one would clear first, so I called up the office to explain the situation and see if we can do something about it if their was not enough money in the back to cover the rent. The answer I got back was stunning when the office told me it was not their problem and that if the rent check bounced they were going to charge me the rent and 5 percent of the rent because it was late the fee for the check bouncing and my rent will no longer be due on the 5th and my rent will now be due on the first. Luckily they but a freeze on the 850 dollars that somebody skimmed out of my account before the rent check went through. Another incident I had with them is when I moved out of the apartment and they sent me a bill for 400 dollars foe replacement of the carpet which was fine when I left, the final water bill and cleaning of the oven which was also fine when I left. I had to get a lawyer to dispute the bill. I won the battle by not paying for the carpet, and it makes me wonder how many other people they have taken advantage of. The last incident I had was today May 9 2006 when I went to pay the 121.00 that I owned for the final bill and she would not take my check because the lawyer said I will be sending a money order and she does not know if the money would be in the bank. I told the management I have lived there for a year and a half and have never been late with my rent and asked if she is going to question it this time she said yes, so I took the check and got her the money order and when I asked for a receipt she said I had one which was the one for purchasing the money order but I wanted the receipt from her because I did not trust she got in my face and told me she let some things slide with me and I asked her what she meant and she claimed I knew what she was talking about. She eventually told me I had stored a big rig truck at the complex and she let it slide. I told her I never owned a truck and did not know what she was talking about. She never apologized for the false accusations. I got my receipt and left. The complex also discriminates against the Navy cadets from the Naval academy because they deploy allot so one of the workers there said they quit renting to them. I will get off my soap box now I just thought you should know how they treat their customers. Other then that the place was decent except for the outrageous rates they charge for rent. No amount of money is worth the way they treat people.
